Children’s Play Therapy

This past week Josh, Alec and myself took a course in Child’s Play Therapy along with about 15 other people at the church. It was given by a certified counselor and social worker. She has been working with children for a very long time and she has so much wisdom. It was great to have the opportunity to learn from her. While the class was about doing therapy with children the principles really apply to all people and I think all of us worked through some issues in our own lives during the week. We did all sort of activities that at first seemed so random but it was so cool how she used them to bring out issues. It was a really neat experience and we left there with a lot of tools to use in communicating with not only the kids we work with but our own as well.

Alec learned a few things about himself through playing in the sand.

I’ve pitched my tent.

Psalm 66:8-12 says:

“Bless our God, O peoples, and sound his praise abroad. Who keeps us in life and does not allow our feet to slip. For you have tried us, O God; You have refined us as silver is refined. You brought us into the net; You laid an oppressive burden on our loins. You made men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water, yet you brought us out into a place of abundance.”

I will, as Acts 2:26 says, “pitch my tent in the land of hope”

Hope – the joyful anticipation of good

Sorry if my breath smells…

So this morning we experienced a major attack…literally. The monkeys broke in through our bathroom window and stole our toothpaste. I found it outside full of little sharp teeth holes. so just excuse my breath for now….

Our Vacation

Sorry for the delay in post.  After arriving back in Mossel Bay last week we have been going hard ever since.  God has been speaking to us about being hungry for Him.  It has been a fruitful week and today, monday,is a public holiday here.  Last night Noah slept through the night, that was awesome.  One of his first nights doing that.  Abby and I are running two cell groups at the moment, and participating in a third, and worship practice one night a week so our nights are very busy.  We want thank all of you that have been with us in prayer and support.  Things are good.  I have put together the clips of our vacation into a small movie.  I didn’t get to do any fishing, but it was still an amazing time with my wife, and son.

From Plett to Uniondale

Abby and I have spent the week with Noah in a small town called Plettenberg Bay. It is a couple hours up the coast. It has been so nice to get away from what we have been doing and focus on each other and our family. It has taken  us a few days to convince Noah that we are on vacation. I think now that its almost time to go back he is finally settling down.  Today we are going to drive from Plettenberg to a town called Uniondale. We have heard that it is a really beautiful ride.  We have to get going by 10:00, Noah will sleep for hopefully two hours, hang out in the town, feed the baby and start our journey back by 2:00 for his second nap. Who would have thought our lives would take on such detailed planning. Whatever we have to do to make sure he gets his sleep.  We will let you know how our little trip goes.  I heard there is a trout farm along the way!
