It has been a while…

This is such a great opportunity to walk with a group of ladies! We are praying that this will be a real opportunity for discipleship both in gardening and with the Lord! One of the ladies asked Josh to pray for her back and foot because of some pain that she was having. She had seen Josh pray for people before at the clinic. It was a real holy moment as these women all gathered around with us to pray for their friend. We were also able to pray with them for a blessing in the name of Jesus over their gardens!

Growing Hope

Well, It has been a while since my last post so I thought I would start with “the Ladies of JCC.” In a previous post I spoke about 18 new lady gardeners that we have in one of the poorest areas called JCC. Almost two weeks ago, two weeks since we first met them and passed out seedlings to them, we went to check up on them and see how they and their gardens were doing. We found out that these women actually have permission to have little plots, like allotments on the primary school grounds. They each have a little space there for a garden but until we came only had a few tomatoes and some spinach growing. That was why they were so happy to get the seedlings for us. They are like a little club that works this ground together. When we went to see them it…

Why Two Blogs?

Some of you may have noticed that a lot of the most recent posts have been “reblogged” from our new Growing Hope blog. The reason that we created this other blog is so that we have a more business-like blog to show people here in South Africa and abroad who want to partner with Growing Hope, not us as family nessesarily. There are people and sponsors who want to learn more about what we are doing as an organization only. And we wanted to have somewhere they can look to see what Growing Hope has been doing and read stories and see pictures. So that is why. If you are here on this blog, please stay! You are most likely someone who we know personally and we would like to be able to keep you up to date on us, personally. I will be reblogging probably all the posts from the Growing Hope blog here as well so don’t worry, you wont miss anything. Thanks!!

Monday Morning

posted on Growing Hope’s Blog yesterday and forgot to repost it here.

Growing Hope

Today we spent some time helping to get the garden in better shape at Zisukhanyo Educate Centre. It is the daycare we have been working with. They have about 60 children to take care of and they depend on the garden for food! Unfortunately the soil is very poor so we have been adding a lot of compost to try to get the ground in better shape. There is a man from the community who takes care of the garden. He is very dedicated and hardworking.

Growing Hope

The guys at the Mossel Bay Juvenile Correction Centre planted 15 trays worth of seeds last Saturday!! That means in about 5 more weeks we will have 3000 seedlings to pass out to the community.

We are going to be planning a kick off day at one of the community gardens to give our new partnership an official start. Then the officials in charge of the jail and everything will come and see what we are doing. We want to have there full support so this is a great opportunity for us!
